About the Opportunity
Axe Recruiting is partnering with a high-growth, multi-clinic healthcare platform operating across multiple states and legal entities. We’re hiring a hands-on Financial Controller (Full-Charge) to own the full accounting cycle, deliver accurate, on-time consolidated reporting, and lead finance integrations as the company scales organically and via acquisition. This role reports to executive leadership and is remote-first within the U.S.
What You’ll Own
Lead GL, AP, AR, Payroll and a consistent monthly close (T+5–T+7) across multi-company, multi-site, multi-state operations.
Produce consolidated financials, entity roll-ups, site-level P&Ls, cash forecasts, board-ready reporting, and variance analysis.
Build/enforce internal controls and a rigorous compliance calendar (state/federal tax, sales/use tax, payroll, W-2/1099); maintain audit-readiness.
Drive M&A finance integration (opening balances, purchase accounting coordination, policy harmonization, vendor consolidation, systems/process standardization).
Partner with Revenue Cycle leadership on collections visibility: DSO tracking, payer mix, and cash discipline.
Manage a lean AP/AR/Payroll structure (internal & external partners); design the scale-up plan for future hiring and upskilling.
Own and modernize the finance systems stack (GL, AP automation, payroll, expense, fixed assets, consolidations; light BI) and push process automation.
What Great Looks Like (30-60-90)
Day 30: Clean close at T+7; entity map documented; vendor master rationalized; compliance calendar live; open-items log in place.
Day 60: Standardized close checklist & reconciliations; first consolidated pack shipped on schedule; DSO trend reporting operational; budget model v1.
Day 90: Controls walkthrough completed with remediation plan; M&A integration playbook drafted; steady T+5–T+7 close cadence.
What You’ve Done
8–12+ years progressive accounting/controllership with multi-site healthcare and multi-state payroll/tax (required).
Led fast, accurate month-end close and audit-ready control environments.
Hands-on M&A integration experience in roll-up or high-acquisition settings.
Systems-savvy; comfortable stitching data between EMR/RCM and the GL.
CPA preferred (or equivalent track record delivering controls + close in complex environments).
Startup/high-growth experience is valued.
