Tendering Engineer – Steel Fabrication & Construction

Axe Recruiting is seeking an experienced Tendering Engineer on behalf of one of our confidential clients, a leading company in the steel fabrication and construction sector. This role will play a pivotal part in the tendering lifecycle—managing the end-to-end bid process, coordinating across technical and commercial teams, and ensuring submission excellence for large-scale construction projects across international markets.

This position requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, steel fabrication processes, and cross-functional coordination. The Tendering Engineer will also serve as a liaison between internal departments and external stakeholders, contributing directly to the client’s pursuit of strategic contracts and project wins.

Key Accountabilities:

• Drive daily execution of the full tendering process, from document control to submission, ensuring compliance with client ITT (Invitation to Tender) requirements.

• Analyze project risks, commercial implications, and technical specifications tied to each tender opportunity.

• Collaborate across departments (design, procurement, production, operations) to gather accurate documentation and cost data.

• Interpret system drawings, review specifications, and identify discrepancies or required clarifications for final submission.

• Prepare technical and commercial proposals, ensuring inclusion of all systems, standards, and codes relevant to the project scope.

• Source and negotiate with vendors and subcontractors, supporting cost estimates and proposal accuracy.

• Maintain internal systems, pricing databases, and cost tracking tools for consistent project estimations.

• Assess design revisions or client changes and communicate the impact on costs, scope, and schedules.

• Coordinate internal reviews with project and fabrication teams to finalize engineering deliverables in line with bid requirements.

• Provide professional insight during tender meetings and contribute to decision-making during Go/No-Go evaluations.

Candidate Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) or Diploma in a related discipline

Experience:

• 6–10 years of proven experience in tendering, estimating, or execution within steel construction, fabrication, or erection works

• Strong exposure to international bidding processes across GCC, CIS, and Asia-Pacific regions

Competencies:

• Exceptional organizational and documentation skills

• Technical proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

• Strong negotiation, coordination, and presentation skills

• High level of professionalism, integrity, and judgment under pressure

• Proactive and solutions-driven with a clear understanding of stakeholder communication

Work Environment & Scope:

• This role will support tenders across multiple geographies and will require occasional coordination with consultants, clients, and main contractors
