National Security Investigator (Top Secret Clearance)

The Mission

Nation-state actors, sanctioned entities, and transnational criminal networks move money through cryptocurrency — and tracing it has become one of the highest-leverage disciplines in national security. Our client puts blockchain intelligence behind the U.S. government’s hardest investigations: agencies using their platform and expertise have seized billions in illicit proceeds and dismantled networks behind ransomware, terrorist financing, and hostile-state financial operations.

This role is where that work actually happens. You will conduct the investigations.

The Role

You’ll join a team of former analysts, agents, and investigators applying blockchain intelligence to national security cases in direct support of government customers. The tradecraft you already have — rigorous analysis, source evaluation, link and network analysis, and clear written product under deadline — is the job. The blockchain layer is teachable, and they teach it: you’ll be trained and certified on the client’s platform and mentored by some of the most experienced cryptocurrency investigators in the world.

You do not need cryptocurrency or blockchain experience to succeed here. You need to think clearly, reason carefully, and write products a decision-maker can act on.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct complex investigations combining on-chain analysis with all-source tradecraft, on-site alongside national security customers and missions
• Trace illicit financial flows across blockchains, exchanges, and services; attribute activity to actors and networks
• Produce clear, defensible written products — investigative summaries, link analyses, and briefings — calibrated to the customer’s mission and standards
• Brief findings to analysts, investigators, and leadership; support case development from lead to referral
• Collaborate with the client’s training and solutions teams to strengthen customer adoption and tradecraft; provide select training to customer investigators
• Contribute to the team’s methodologies as the threat landscape and the technology evolve

What You Bring

• Active TS/SCI with polygraph (required at start; this role supports customer missions that mandate it)
• A degree in intelligence analysis, cybersecurity, cybercrime, criminal justice, forensic accounting, data analytics, or comparable experience
• 3+ years conducting complex analysis for the U.S. Intelligence Community, federal law enforcement, military intelligence, or a comparable national security environment
• Demonstrated strength in analytical reasoning, source evaluation, and structured investigative methodology
• Writing that stands up to scrutiny — you’ve produced finished intelligence, case files, or investigative reports for demanding consumers
• Critical thinking under ambiguity: comfortable building a picture from incomplete data and saying plainly what you know, what you assess, and what you can’t yet support

Stands Out

• All-source, targeting, CT-finance, threat-finance, SIGINT, or financial-crimes analytical background
• Experience with link-analysis and investigative tooling (e.g., i2, Palantir, Maltego, commercial OSINT platforms); you’ll be trained and certified on the client’s platform
• Prior work on illicit finance, sanctions evasion, cyber threat actors, or transnational organized crime
• Cryptocurrency or blockchain exposure (genuinely optional — tradecraft outranks it here)
