Our client is a fast-growing behavioral health organization headquartered in Westbury, NY, providing outpatient mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. They are expanding across New York and into additional states, with a strong focus on:

This role is a key part of building a strong clinical core as the organization scales. The position is designed as an LMSW therapist role working under the direction of the Director of Social Work Services and the broader clinical team.

Position Overview

The Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) will provide outpatient clinical social work services under supervision, in accordance with New York State scope-of-practice requirements. This is an entry-level therapist role, ideal for a motivated LMSW who is building their clinical foundation and accruing supervised hours toward their LCSW.

You’ll be part of a team that includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and other behavioral health professionals, with a clear clinical structure and support.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services (Under Supervision)
  • Conduct initial psychosocial assessments, gather relevant history, and contribute to diagnostic impressions as part of a supervised treatment team.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy under supervision, using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches appropriate to your training and experience.
  • Collaborate closely with a supervising LCSW / psychologist / psychiatrist on treatment planning, case formulation, and ongoing clinical decision-making.
  • Participate in case conferences, clinical huddles, and interdisciplinary meetings to ensure coordinated, high-quality care for all assigned clients.
Care Coordination & Advocacy
  • Coordinate with schools, primary care providers, community agencies, and family members (as appropriate and with consent) to support the overall treatment plan.
  • Provide case management functions such as referrals to community resources, social supports, or higher levels of care when indicated.
  • Advocate for patients and families navigating education, healthcare, social services, and insurance systems, ensuring access to needed services and supports.
Documentation, Compliance & Continuing Education
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, ethical, and payer documentation requirements, including maintaining appropriate informed consent with respect to supervised practice.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
  • Adhere to all continuing education (CE) requirements necessary to maintain LMSW licensure in New York State, including participating in relevant trainings and keeping CE credits current in alignment with regulatory expectations.
Team & Program Contributions
  • Participate in regular individual and/or group supervision, actively integrating supervisory feedback into clinical practice.
  • Offer input into workflows, scheduling, and program development, including identifying opportunities for new groups, services, or process improvements.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture, modeling professionalism, reliability, and a patient-centered mindset.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • Current New York State LMSW license, or clear eligibility to obtain New York LMSW licensure within a defined timeframe.
  • Experience (internship or post-graduate) providing clinical services in a mental health or related behavioral health setting (outpatient, school-based, community, hospital, etc.).
  • Comfort working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and families from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with, or readiness to learn, electronic health records (EHR).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred:

  • 1–3+ years of experience in an outpatient, community mental health, or integrated care setting (new graduates with strong training experience are also welcome to apply).
  • Exposure to or experience with evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT-informed, solution-focused, play therapy, trauma-informed approaches).
  • Bilingual / multilingual skills (e.g., Spanish–English) are a strong asset.
  • Clear interest in pursuing LCSW licensure and building supervised clinical hours.

 

Supervision & Professional Development
  • Structured clinical supervision by an LCSW / qualified clinical supervisor, in line with New York State requirements for LMSWs.
    Supervision is specifically designed to support accumulation of hours toward LCSW where applicable.
  • Opportunities for case consultation, peer learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Access to ongoing training and professional development, with an expectation that the LMSW maintains all continuing education obligations required for licensure.

 

Schedule & Work Environment
  • Location: Westbury, NY office. This is a hybrid position, with hybrid work dependent on office space availability and clinical/operational needs.
  • Schedule: Full-time fee-for-service schedule, with evening and weekend hours preferred to meet client demand and support access.
  • Caseload: Typical caseload will range from approximately 30–40 active clients, with volume adjusted in collaboration with supervision and leadership to support quality of care.
  • Outpatient setting with a team-based, clinician-supportive culture, including administrative support to reduce non-clinical burden where feasible.
Compensation & Structure
  • This is a fee-for-service position, compensated at $25.00–$30.00 per session, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Compensation is based on sessions delivered, and total earnings will vary depending on caseload, scheduling, and patient engagement.
  • This is a strictly base role; there are no additional incentive components attached to this position.
