About the Opportunity
A rapidly expanding outpatient behavioral health organization serving the New York metropolitan area is seeking an accomplished psychiatrist to join its executive leadership team as Medical Director.
The organization delivers outpatient psychiatry, therapy, telepsychiatry, interventional psychiatry, and psychiatric services within skilled nursing environments. Its multidisciplinary clinical team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, and behavioral health professionals supporting a diverse patient population.
The Medical Director will serve as the organization’s senior clinical authority, establishing standards of care, strengthening clinical quality, developing providers, and helping shape the continued growth of the practice.
This is not a purely administrative position. The successful physician will combine strategic leadership with practical clinical involvement and will maintain a negotiable caseload based on the overall leadership responsibilities of the position.
For the right candidate, this opportunity may offer a meaningful pathway toward long-term partnership, equity participation, or expanded executive leadership.

- Provide collaborative-practice coverage, supervision, and precepting for psychiatric nurse practitioners in accordance with New York State requirements.
- Establish clear clinical expectations and support ongoing provider education and professional development.
- Participate in provider recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, performance management, and retention.
- Build a culture of clinical accountability, collaboration, sound judgment, and continuous learning.
Outpatient and Telepsychiatry Oversight
- Oversee the quality and consistency of psychiatric evaluations, medication management, follow-up care, and telepsychiatry services.
- Help optimize workflows across in-person and virtual clinical programs.

- Help establish appropriate standards for documentation, communication, prescribing, escalation, and care coordination.
- Collaborate with facility leadership and internal clinical teams to improve psychiatric access and outcomes.
Interventional Psychiatry
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for interventional psychiatry services, which may include TMS and Spravato/esketamine programs.
- Help ensure appropriate patient selection, treatment protocols, monitoring, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Support the responsible expansion of interventional psychiatry services as organizational demand grows.
- Prior direct experience with TMS or Spravato is preferred but may not be required for an otherwise highly qualified candidate.
Clinical Practice
- Maintain a clinical caseload consisting primarily of psychiatric evaluations and medication-management appointments.
- The proportion of clinical practice will be negotiated based on the physician’s leadership scope, experience, and organizational needs.
- Provide clinical consultation on complex cases and support escalation when providers require senior physician input.
- Remain actively engaged in patient care to maintain visibility into clinical workflows and provider challenges.
Growth and Program Development
- Partner with executive and operational leadership on the development of new clinical programs and service lines.
