About the Opportunity

Axe Recruiting is recruiting a Calibration Technician I on behalf of a confidential client in the Greater Montreal Area.

This role is designed for someone with a technical foundation who wants to build a long-term career in calibration, metrology, instrumentation, electronics, mechanical measurement, or technical service.

The successful candidate does not need to be a senior calibration expert, but they should be hands-on, detail-oriented, coachable, and comfortable working with tools, equipment, procedures, and documentation. This is a practical technical role where accuracy matters and where the right person can grow into more advanced calibration responsibilities over time.

Our client is looking for someone who takes pride in careful work, follows instructions properly, communicates professionally, and wants to develop in a specialized technical environment.

This role offers stable full-time employment, competitive hourly compensation, hands-on technical training, and a practical path into a specialized technical career.

Key Responsibilities

The Calibration Technician I will support and perform calibration-related work under the guidance of more experienced technical staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform basic calibration, inspection, and verification tasks.
  • Assist with technical service work on customer equipment.
  • Follow established procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Learn how to use calibration tools, test instruments, and measurement equipment.
  • Document work accurately and maintain proper records.
  • Support equipment intake, preparation, testing, and return processes.
  • Work with supervisors and senior technicians to build technical competence.
  • Identify basic equipment issues and escalate them appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.
  • Participate in hands-on training and technical development.
  • Support customer-site work when required.
  • Take direction, apply feedback, and continuously improve technical skills.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a technical mindset and a willingness to learn.

Required qualifications include:

  • Previous experience or education in a technical field such as electronics, mechanical systems, instrumentation, manufacturing, maintenance, field service, laboratory work, automotive, aviation, industrial equipment, or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and technical instructions.
  • Comfortable working with tools, equipment, and hands-on tasks.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn specialized calibration processes.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally if required.

Preferred Qualifications

The following would be considered an asset:

  • College diploma, technical certificate, trade-related training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Previous exposure to calibration, metrology, quality control, technical service, lab work, or equipment testing.
  • Experience with measurement equipment or technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, pressure, dimensional, temperature, or similar equipment categories.
  • Experience in a service-based or customer-facing technical role.
  • Interest in building a long-term career in calibration and technical services.

Work Environment

This role is based in a technical service environment and may include work in a lab, service facility, or occasional customer location. The successful candidate should be comfortable standing, walking, lifting, bending, using tools, and handling equipment throughout the day.

The work requires focus, patience, accuracy, and respect for customer-owned equipment.

Why This Role

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond general labour or basic technical work into a more specialized career path.

Calibration is a field where dependable, detail-oriented people can build valuable expertise over time. For the right candidate, this role offers competitive hourly compensation, hands-on training, exposure to technical equipment, and a pathway toward more advanced responsibilities.
