Their davit crane systems are trusted by maintenance teams and engineers for equipment lifting for wastewater applications, supporting the safe handling of pumps, motors, and other essential equipment.
Position Overview
Axe Recruiting is seeking a Territory Sales Manager on behalf of our client to drive growth within the water and wastewater sector, working directly with municipalities, utilities, and infrastructure stakeholders.
This is a true territory ownership role focused on building relationships, driving demand, and converting opportunities through both direct engagement and formal procurement processes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle, including identifying opportunities, influencing specifications, and responding to RFPs, tenders, and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities
Territory Ownership & Revenue Growth
- Own and execute a territory growth strategy across water and wastewater facilities, municipalities, and utilities
- Identify and pursue opportunities within public works departments, treatment plants, and infrastructure projects
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline aligned with municipal and capital project cycles
RFP, Tender & Bid Management
- Monitor and identify RFPs, RFQs, and public tenders within the territory
- Lead the preparation and submission of competitive bids and proposals
- Collaborate internally to ensure accurate pricing, technical compliance, and timely submissions
- Work to influence specifications upstream with engineers and stakeholders prior to formal tender release
- Navigate procurement processes and vendor qualification requirements
Customer & Relationship Development
- Build and maintain relationships with municipal decision-makers, wastewater plant managers and operators, and engineering consultants and contractors
- Position solutions effectively within capital equipment and infrastructure purchasing cycles
Technical Sales Execution
- Understand lifting and maintenance challenges in confined space and wastewater environments
- Present and recommend davit crane and portable lifting solutions
- Conduct product demonstrations and provide consultative support
Market Engagement
- Stay informed on infrastructure planning, budgets, and project pipelines
- Represent the company at industry events, site visits, and trade shows
- Collaborate internally to ensure successful project execution
Collaboration with Distribution Partners
- Work with distributors and representatives to support project execution and fulfillment
- Leverage partner relationships where appropriate to expand reach
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in water / wastewater equipment sales, municipal or infrastructure sales, or industrial or capital equipment sales into the public sector
- Proven experience with RFPs, tenders, and bid submissions and navigating municipal procurement processes
Sales Capability
- Demonstrated ability to build and grow a territory, influence specifications and project requirements, and close complex, multi-stakeholder deals
Technical & Industry Knowledge
- Familiarity with water and wastewater systems, pumps, valves, lifting equipment, or related infrastructure solutions
- Ability to engage with engineers, operators, and procurement teams
Additional
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and opportunities simultaneously
- Willingness to travel within territory
Compensation & Structure
Base Salary: $90,000 – $115,000 CAD
On-Target Earnings (OTE): $140,000 – $170,000 CAD
Top Performers: $180,000+ CAD
Comp Structure
- Base salary + large upside with commission
- Earnings driven by project wins, territory growth, and repeat municipal business
- Performance-based incentives tied to RFP wins, tenders, and capital equipment sales cycles
